Eva Lou Graham Whitmire

WHITMIRE

Eva Lou Graham Whitmire, 77, a former resident of Kanawha County, and Elkins and more recently a resident of Lost Creek, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, June 6, 2017, in United Hospital Center at Bridgeport, with her loving son by her side. She had been in declining health.

She was born Monday, July 3, 1939, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Ison Lee and Ella Marie Conte Graham.

On June 27, 1959, at Elkins, she was married to Jack Wilson Whitmire Sr., who preceded her in death July 23, 2011.

Surviving are one son, Jack Wilson Whitmire Jr. and wife, Dreama, of Scott Depot; four brothers, John Joe Graham of Philippi, Ison Paul Graham and wife, Susan, and Jeff Graham, all of Elkins and Steven Wayne Graham and companion, Darcy, of Weston; two sisters, Mary Jo Mayo of Elkins and Elaine Roberts of Gallipolis Ferry; one granddaughter, Taylor Whitmire of Scott Depot; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was one sister, Donna Jean Wilcutt.

She attended the schools of Elkins, was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith. She was a noted seamstress, an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening and canning.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 9. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Terry Cannon will officiate, and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
