Barbara M. Teague

Barbara M. “Barb” Teague, 81, a five-year resident of Shady Side, Maryland and previously of Elkins, passed away on Aug. 13, 2017, at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Barb was born on April 28, 1936, in Northhampton, Pennsylvania, to the late George and Cecelia MacKnight.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Trenton State College and a master’s degree in computing from West Virginia University. Barb spent her working years in various education roles in both New Jersey and West Virginia before retiring and moving to Maryland. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of West Virginia and a member of the Bible study group at Joy Reigns Lutheran Church. Barb enjoyed spending time with family, reading, and gardening. She supported organizations that would help to end hunger and promote world peace.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Crump.

Barb is survived by her husband, Burton Teague; her son, George Crump of Fort Worth, Texas; her daughter, Kaycee Crump of Churchton, Maryland; her daughters-in-law, Melissa Medick of Churchton, Maryland, and Amy Crump of Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren, Hayden Medick-Crump, Landen Medick-Crump, Cullman Mills, Tae Smith, Abdul Jones, Karen Crump and Alycia Mills; and two great-grandchildren, Malaya and Liam Jones.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Joy Reigns Lutheran Church, 35 Mayo Rd., Edgewater, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barb’s honor to the Heifer Foundation, www.heifer.org or to www.roomtoread.org in honor of Barb’s 50 years as an educator.
