Carolyn T. Church

Carolyn T. Church, 69, of Valley Bend, passed away at home on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017. She had been in declining health, but her death was unexpected.

She was born in Harman, on July 11, 1948, a daughter of the late Carl B. Teter and Joan Roy Teter, who survives in Onego.

On Oct. 17, 1987, in Huttonsville, she was married to Charles Church, who survives in Valley Bend.

She is also survived by two sisters, Jill (Greg) Brown of Onego and Vicky Crosston of Elkins. A nephew and two nieces and several great-nephews and great-nieces also survive. She is also survived by her constant companion, Penny, her Jack Russell Terrier.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gary Crosston.

Carolyn was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1966 and graduated from Davis & Elkins College in 1987 with a B.S. in accounting. She had worked for the National Electrical Contractors Association in Bethesda, Maryland, from August 1967, until September 1983, at which time she returned to Elkins. She then began working for Davis & Elkins College, first as an executive secretary in the Dean of Faculty’s Office from 1984 until 1997. She then worked for David Wilmoth, attorney, from 1997 until 1999, when she returned to Davis & Elkins as an administrative assistant in the Student Life Office. She retired from Davis & Elkins in June 2011.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching murder mysteries on television. She was an organ donor.

At her request, her remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
