Jean Lee Long, 95, a resident of Dailey, departed this life Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at the Elkins Regional Convalescence Center at Elkins.

She was born Wednesday, June 28, 1922, at Hillsboro, the oldest daughter of the Price and Gertrude Heffner Long.

She is survived by her brother, Edward Long and wife, Doris, of Valley Head; brother-in-law, Virgil Eskew of Elkins; cousins, George Heffner, Joyce Hebb, Shirley Sanders and Sandy Blake; nieces, Cheryl Turnes and husband, Garry, Judy Oliver and husband, Robert, and Norma Billings and husband, Lee; great-nieces, Ashley Cochran and husband, Joey, and Portia Oliver; and great-great-nephew, Cruz Cochran.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Sarah Long and Betty Eskew.

Miss Long graduated from Beverly High School and was a member of the Valley Bend Presbyterian Church. She was a child care worker and later was a housekeeper at Nella’s of Crystal Springs. She was the caregiver of her mother during her mother’s long illness — and other family members over the years. She will be very much missed by her family and friends.

The family is grateful to the staff (and former staff) of ERCC and Dr. David Currence for many years of care to Miss Long.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate. Interment will take place at the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Country Club Road; however there will be no graveside service.
