Charles ‘Charlie’ Howard Skidmore
Charles “Charlie” Howard Skidmore, 86, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, at Davis Medical Center in Elkins.
Charlie was born Thursday, April 16, 1931, in Elkins, a son of the late Harley Newton Skidmore and Lena Blanche Ball Skidmore.
On Sept. 3, 1949, in White Sulphur Springs, he married the former Ethel Marie Karlen, who preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 1988. They had celebrated 39 years of marriage.
Left to cherish Charlie’s memory are six children, Kathryn Oldham and husband, Tom, Neal Skidmore, David “Chongo” Skidmore and wife, Linda, Susan Graham and husband, Ison, all of Elkins, Jeanne Dumire of Richmond, Virginia, and Joseph Skidmore and companion, Ellen Yoakum, of Elkins; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Cappadony and Lucille Spicer, both of Elkins.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife were two brothers, Richard and Edward Skidmore.
Charlie had been employed as a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local 132. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and fly tying. Above all, Charlie loved his family and was a dedicated family man to the end.
Services and interment beside his wife were private.
The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Charles Howard Skidmore.
