Eva Virginia Rice

Eva Virginia Rice, 70, of Hodgesville, died Saturday, Sept. 16, at her home.

She was born July 10, 1947, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Henry Jackson and May Donaldson Ables.

On June 10, 1972, she married Donald Rice, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Donald Rice, Jr. of Hodgesville, and David Rice of Jane Lew; four grandsons, Matthew Montgomery, Blaze and Lantz Rice, all of Buckhannon, and Isaac Rice of Jane Lew; one granddaughter, Maneika Roy of Buckhannon; four brothers, Russell Ables and wife Gladys, Donnie Ables and wife Libby and Ed Ables and wife Katie, all of Weston, and Mike Ables and wife Janelle of Lost Creek; six sisters, Mary Finster and husband Steve, Elsie Burkhammer and husband Steve, and Kim Ables all of Roanoke, Shirley Epple and husband Herman of North Carolina, Ellie Heath and husband Joe of Weston and Peg Ables of Walkersville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Ann Johnson.

Mrs. Rice was a homemaker and a member of the Heaston United Methodist Church.

Friends will be received Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Stadelman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rice Cemetery in Canaan.
