Stanford C. Mills


Stanford C. Mills, 67, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at his home, following an extended illness.

He was born July 7, 1950, in Elkins, a son of the late Denver C. Mills and the late Beulah R. Mills.

On June 4, 1981, at Beverly, he married Ruth Ann Mattis Mills, who survives in Elkins.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lindsay Ann Mills Hawken and husband, Philip, and Jamie Rachel Mills, both of Elkins. One brother, M. Nile Mills of Elkins and four sisters, Judy Touchstone of Summerville, Georgia, Bobbie Dilley of Marlinton, Donna Barth, of Florence, Kentucky, and Jody Cross of Elkins, also survive.

Stanford attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed as a project supervisor for the West Virginia Department of Highways prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Beverly United Methodist Church, the Highlanders of Davis & Elkins College, Randolph Lodge No. 55 A.F. & A.M. and the Izaak Walton League.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, from the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazelwood Cemetery.
