Glenn Dale Johnson Sr., 73, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Glenn was born Friday, July 21, 1944, in Mill Creek, a son of the late Cletis Johnson and Abigail Louk Johnson and stepmother, Lou Snelson Johnson.
On May 10, 1961, in Oakland, Maryland, he married Claudia Lea, who survives in Mill Creek.
Also left to cherish his memory are one son, Glenn Dale Johnson Jr.; one grandson, Zackery Ryan Johnson, both of Shavers Run; one nephew, who was like a brother to him, Jerry Johnson; special sister-in-law, Mabel Johnson; and lifelong friend, Richard Harron.
Preceding Glenn in death besides his parents were five siblings, Wilson, Lewis and Delmer Johnson, Helen McClovic and Thelma Burns; and two stepbrothers, Floyd and Robert Snelson.
Glenn attended the schools of Randolph County and proudly obtained his GED. He had been employed for 34 and a half years as a Correctional Officer Sergeant at Huttonsville Correctional Center. Glenn enjoyed many outdoor activities. However, his favorite thing to do was spend time with his family.
The family’s request for cremation was honored so Glenn could be home with his family. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Thursday, Oct. 26, from 4-5 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. by Chaplain Norman Hawkins.
