Milton Eugene Sturm

Milton Eugene Sturm, 83, of Belington, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, in the Hospice Wing of Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

He was born Jan. 16, 1934, at Philippi, a son of the late Ira L. and Mary Elizabeth (Haller) Sturm.

On Dec. 28, 1954, he was married to the former Shirley Caroline Corley, who survives.

Also surviving is a special nephew, Bernie Corley and wife, DJ, of West Milford, his caregiver for several years; several other nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. Sturm was a 1953 graduate of Philippi High School. He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a helicopter mechanic for the Presidential Marine One for eight years. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and was a life-member of the Laurel Mountain Post 410 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, from the Stemple and Forman Funeral Home, 966 S. Main St. in Philippi. The Rev. Arthur Malcolm will officiate, and interment will follow in the K of P Mountain View Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, on Monday.
