Linda Lou Thornhill Collette


Linda Lou Thornhill Collette, 64, a resident of Hambleton, passed from this life Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at home, surrounded by family and under the care of West Virginia Caring.

Linda was born Thursday, June 20, 1953, in Baltimore, Maryland, a daughter of the late Franklin Earl Thornhill and Betty Lou Myers Thornhill.

On April 18, 1986, she was married to Robert Collette, who survives. They had celebrated 31 years of marriage.

Also left to cherish Linda’s memory are two children, Christopher Fortney of Elkins and Angie Phillips and husband, Jake, of Hambleton; one sister, Kim Close and husband, Jim; one brother, Randy Thornhill and wife, Cathy, all of Montrose; four grandchildren, Cheyenne Phillips and fiance, Todd Lawrence, Jacob Phillips, Valerie Fortney and Brittany Fortney; one great-grandson, Todd Walker Lawrence; four nephews, James Close, Justin Close, Joey Close and Ryan Thornhill; and her Yorkie, Phoebe.

Preceding Linda in death besides her parents was one brother, Franklin Keith Thornhill.

Linda attended the schools of Baltimore, Maryland, and Randolph County. She had worked various jobs including Beta Shoe Company, Reidboard Brothers, Allegheny Lumber Company, Peter Pan Cleaners, Western Steer Steakhouse and Hardee’s. She enjoyed doing crafts, reading and crocheting, especially afghans. She loved spending time with her family camping and going on picnics. She was Pentecostal by faith.

Visitation will be held at Hostetler Funeral Home today from 5-7 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Billy Hardy will officiate. Linda’s request for cremation will then be honored.
