Luretta Jean Taylor

Luretta Jean Taylor, 82, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away early Saturday morning, Nov. 18, 2017, at the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center.

She was born Aug. 4, 1935, at Mill Creek, a daughter of the late Roe McClanahan and the late Susie McCauley McClanahan Knarr.

On Oct. 20, 1951, at Mill Creek, she was married to Eugene D. Taylor Sr., who preceded her in death Aug. 23, 2015.

Surviving are four sons, Denver Taylor of Huttonsville, Glenn Taylor and wife Marsha and Eugene “Pickle” Taylor and wife Jenny, both of Mill Creek, and Harvey Taylor and wife Angie of Dailey; and three daughters, Caffey McAtee of Mill Creek, Roann Martin and husband Jim of Hurricane and Glendine Stalnaker of Huttonsville.

One sister, Claudia Mae McClanahan of Ravenna, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren also survive.

Also preceding her in death were two sons-in-law, Robert McAtee and James Stalnaker; and one daughter-in-law, Lucy Taylor.

Jean was a homemaker, a member of T.O.P.S. of Huttonsville and a member of the Jerusalem United Methodist Church.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Carroll McCauley and Pastor David Powell officiating. Interment will follow in the Jerusalem Cemetery at Mill Creek.
