Betty Jane Mallow
Betty Jane Mallow, 79, a former resident of Harman, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 5, 2017, at the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center.
She was born April 4, 1938, a daughter of the late Ira S. Vandevender and Betty Alice Sponaugle Vandevender.
On Jan. 5, 1957, she was married to Jearl J. Mallow. who preceded her in death on July 18, 2013.
She is survived by one son, Michael J. Mallow of Elkins; and one granddaughter, Amy S. Mallow Mullenex of Elkins. Three siblings, Ira Junior “June” Vandevender, Betty’s twin brother, Ronald Vandevender, and Ocie Vandevender Thompson; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan L. Mullenex, Austin T. Mullenex and Ridge A. Arbogast also survive.
Also preceding her in death were five siblings, Donald Vandevender, Bertha Vandevender Thompson, Verna Vandevender Sponaugle, Oral “Emery” Vandevender and Harel Vandevender.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon, Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be at noon Saturday with the Rev. Eli Hostetler officiating. Interment will follow in the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Whitmer.
