Ralph Summerfield

SUMMERFIED

Ralph Summerfield, 86, a resident of the Blue Rock community, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, in the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center.

He was born June 8, 1931, in Elkins, a son of the late Denver and Lelah Goss Summerfield.

He was married to Olive Mavadell Daniels, who preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 2009.

Surviving are three sons, Gary R. Summerfield and wife, Elizabeth, Randal Summerfield and wife, Ivy, and Roger Summerfield and wife, Sonya, all of Blue Rock. One daughter-in-law, Kitty Summerfield, Adolph; a son-in-law, Chesly Koerner of Moorefield; two brothers, Junior Summerfield, Blue Rock and Ervin Summerfield of Maryland; one sister, Thelma Haupt of Maryland; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

Also preceding him in death was one daughter, Brenda Koerner; one son, Michael Summerfield; and two grandsons.

Ralph was a heavy equipment operator for many years having retired from Carter-Roag Coal Co. He was a minister having pastored churches at Blue Rock, Norton, Harrison community, Bartow and Belington. He was a member of the Union Mission Church.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Randy Long and the Rev. Scott Spotloe officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Rock Cemetery
