Richard Allen Yokum, 73, a resident of Crystal Springs, passed from this life Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at his home.

Richard was born Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1945, in Mill Creek, a son of the late Oran Vance Yokum and Georgia Mundell Yokum.

On Oct. 23, 1970, he was married to the former Mary Louise Lang Phillips, who survives in Crystal Springs. They had celebrated 47 years of marriage.

Also left to cherish Richard’s memory are one daughter, Jennifer Louise Rosier and husband, Samuel, of Elkins; two grandsons, Sam and Allen; three sisters, Olita Burdette of Greenwood, South Carolina, Judith Loflin of Dameron, Maryland, and Mary Lou Corn of Cantonsville, Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by two brothers, Gail and Austin Yokum; two sisters, Ila Phares and Virginia Wertz; and one stepdaughter, Julia Phillips.

Richard attended the schools of Randolph County and was a veteran, having served with the U.S. National Guard. He had retired by Labcraft and from McDonald’s. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkins and had attended Bowden Family Worship Center.

The family’s request for cremation was honored. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 3 p.m. at Bowden Family Worship Center. Pastor Lynn Rider and the Rev. Brian Seders will officiate; inurnment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Elkins.
