Edward G. Riemenschneider
Edward G. Riemenschneider, 82, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018, at his home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1935, at Hoboken, New Jersey, a son of the late Edward K. and Hildegard Steneck Riemenschneider.
On March 2, 1963, at Moorefield, he married Frances Rebecca Halterman, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving is one son, Edward G. Riemenschneider Jr and wife, Rhonda, of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Gretchen Price and husband, Jerry, of Elkins. One sister, Barbara Manrique of Spring Hill, Florida; and three grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding him in death was one sister, Hildegard Amelie Poole.
Ed received his Bachelors of Science in forestry from the University of Maine at Orono, Maine. He was employed as a forester for Mongold Lumber Co. for many years prior to his retirement. He was a college baseball player having tried out for the New York Yankees. In his earlier years, Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman spending summers in Nags Head, North Carolina. He enjoyed golfing at the Elk’s Course in Elkins and was an animal lover. He was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Riemenschneider’s request for cremation has been honored. He will be interred in the Olivet Cemetery at Moorefield at a later date.
