Payton Ray Griffith
Payton Ray Griffith, 48, a resident of the Harding community, passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 28, 2018, in the UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was born June 15, 1969, at Beckley, the son of Gerald “Fuzz” Sandridge and Sandy Acord Sandridge of Harding.
On March 7, 1995 in Elkins, he was married to Linda Sue Atkinson, who survives at Harding.
Also surviving is one daughter, Amanda Rae Griffith of Harding; and one sister, Nicole Lee Petrice and husband, Vince, of Elkins.
Payton attended the schools of Randolph County, was a graduate of Coalton High School and was employed at Armstrong Flooring at the time of his death. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and trapping. Ray loved spending time with his family and his dog, Scrappy.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., Sunday, March 4, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Terry Cannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Coffman Cemetery at Harding.
