Wanda Grace Auvil Freeman

Wanda Grace Auvil Freeman, 74, a resident of Pifer Mountain, St. George, departed this life Wednesday morning, March 21, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of West Virginia Caring.

She was born Monday, Aug. 23, 1943, at Tucker County, at the Cread Place, a daughter of the late Walter Dale and Nellie Viola Nestor Auvil.

On Feb. 18, 1961, at Oakland, Maryland, she was married to Robert Wesley “Bob” Freeman. They had celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Surviving are one son, Robert Mark Freeman; two grandchildren, Heather Michelle Clower and husband, Daniel, and Adam Wesley Freeman and wife, Amanda; three great-grandchildren, Paityn Rena Clower, Wyatt Brennus Clower and Cambrie Elaine Freeman; and one son-in-law, Pat Bright.

Preceding her in death are one daughter, Vickie Rena Bright; one grandson, Robert Mark Freeman II; and one infant brother.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1960. She was an employee of the former Tucker County Hospital for over 20 years and retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways working as an office assistant for 29 years.

She was an active member of the Sycamore Grove Church in Bull Run. She enjoyed working on the farm, and she was an avid sports fan of West Virginia University and Tucker County sports.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, March 24, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate, and interment will follow at the Pifer Mountain Cemetery at St. George.
