‘Dolly’ Mabel Irene Armentrout Cooper

“Dolly” Mabel Irene Armentrout Cooper, 73, a resident of Harman, departed this life Monday evening, June 11, 2018, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of WV Caring. She had been in declining health.

She was born Thursday, Nov. 16, 1944, at Whitmer, a daughter of the late Fred Beaurgard Armentrout and Evelyn May Nelson Armentrout.

On June 9, 1966, at Oakland, Maryland, she was married to Sammy Waldo Cooper, who preceded her in death in 2003.

Surviving are two daughters, Christy D. Cooper of Elkins and Tina L. Cooper of Centreville, Virginia; seven brothers, Neil Armentrout and wife, Barbara, of Tennessee, Freddie Armentrout and wife, Molly, of Whitmer, Monroe Armentrout of Maryland, Criss Armentrout and wife, Babs, of Virginia, Ronnie Armentrout and wife, Joyce, of Whitmer, Junior Hedrick and wife, Kathy, of Harman and Scott Hedrick and wife, Faye, of Maryland; one sister, Molly Teter of Harman; four grandchildren, Samantha C. Carter, Candace A. Elza, Kayla I. Cooper Carter and Cory T. Cooper Carter; a special companion, Jimmy Hill of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are two brothers, Clinton Davis Nelson and Roy David Armentrout; one sister, Helen Lydia Armentrout; and one granddaughter, Corinne Andrea Zirkle.

She was a graduate of Harman High School with the class of 1962. Following high school, she enlisted into the United States Air Force, where she worked on the Air Force Base in Oklahoma. She was a bookkeeper for Brown Pontiac and Subaru in Arlington, Virginia, from which she retired in 1987. She was a member of the Job Methodist Church at Job. Mrs. Cooper enjoyed vacationing and especially her time at the beach. She loved to spend time with her friends, family and grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. On Friday morning, June 15, Mrs. Cooper will be moved to the Job Methodist Church, where final rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mike Lambert will officiate, and interment will follow at the Armentrout Mullennex Cemetery at Job.
