Charles W. Higginbotham

Charles “Woody” W. Higginbotham, 65, of Paden City, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, at his home surrounded by family.

Woody was born April 21, 1953 in New Martinsville, a son of the late Robert K. Higginbotham and Barbara L. Broadwater.

He was a retired teacher for Randolph County School System. He had a lifetime love for trains, both model and life-size, and he was a member of WVEA and RCEA. Woody was the co-valedictorian of Paden City High School class of 1971. He was a member of the Zanesville Memorial Concert Band, Helvetia Folk Dance and president of Helvetia Restoration Committee. Woody was an avid WVU fan. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Paden City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three cousins, Bob Higginbotham, Craig Broadwater and Junella Broadwater.

Surviving are his sister, Lark Higginbotham of Paden City; two aunts, Nancy (Walton) Christman of New Martinsville and Judy Heasley of Paden City; cousins, Chuck (Pat) Higginbotham of Morgantown, Ann (Lou) DiDonato of North Carolina, Ellen Ashooh of Virginia, Pam (Rolf) Baglein of Minnesota, Mark Broadwater of California, Julie (Wayne) Burkhardt of Idaho, Beth Coleman of New York, Jon (Kimberly) Broadwater of Nevada, Kirk (Julie) Broadwater of California, Karma Malone of Florida, Rhonda Michaels of North Carolina, Lee Ann Broadwater of Morgantown, Harry Culotta and Joseph Culotta both of California, Lance (Lisa) Heasley of New Martinsville, Heather Heasley of Parkersburg and Kelsi Heasley of Paden City; good friend, Kathy Brake of Elkins; and several friends.

Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14, at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City, where a service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday with Pastor Sheri Kernik officiating. The family asked folks to wear either green and white or blue and gold.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

A memorial service will be held in Helvetia at a later time.
