Naomi E. Nida


Naomi E. “Boots” Nida, 87, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at Lavender Fields Assisted Living in Beverly.

She was born Nov. 15, 1930, at Charleston, a daughter of the late Roy H. and Nola Talbert Young.

On Feb. 23, 1950, at Charleston, she was married to Paul E. Nida, who preceded her in death July 27, 2001.

She is survived by two sons, Paul Gregory Nida and wife, Molly, of Beverly and Jeffrey S. Nida and wife, Terri, of Philippi; two brothers, Jerry Young of Cross Lanes and Ronald Young of Pinch; and one sister, Francine Sutcliffe of Pocatello, Idaho. Also surviving are one granddaughter, Krista D. Nida Neely and husband, Jeremy, Scott Neely of Bridgeport; one great-grandson, Parker Scott Neely; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Nida Shawver of Hurricane and Mary Nida of Elkins.

Also preceding her in death were one brother, Roy Young Jr.; and five sisters, Kathleen Strickland, Cloda Statts, Leatrice Malone, Joan Abbott and Sandra Stricklen.

“Boots” was a loan clerk with Davis Trust Co. for 24 years having retired in 1995. She loved bowling, sewing and baking and spending time with friends and family. She was loved by all.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens.
