Wanita R. Wright
Mrs. Wanita Ruth Pitzer Wright, 85, a resident of Belington, departed this life Thursday morning Sept. 6, 2018, at her home. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born Oct. 12, 1932, at Moatsville, a daughter of the late Roy Lee and Mary Pearl Scott Pitzer.
She was twice married. First to Henry Chester Flatt, who preceded her in death. And on March 26, 1991, she was united in marriage to Ralph Clarence Wright, who preceded her in death on March 27, 2015.
She is survived by two stepdaughters, Susan Fox and Diana Davis, all of Belington; three stepsons, Stephen Wright and wife, Mary Jane, of Moatsville, Erwin Wright and wife, Donna, of Jacobsburg, Ohio, and Leroy Wright and wife, Ruth, of Buckhannon; nine stepgrandchildren, numerous stepgreat-grandchildren. Additional survivors include three brothers, George Dale Pitzer of Moatsville, Delmas Pitzer of Philippi and Edward Arnold Pitzer and wife, Laura, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, infant Mary Elizabeth Pitzer and Lois Pitzer Majoris; and two brothers, Roy Ellis Pitzer and Robert Pitzer.
Wanita was a 1950 graduate of the Kasson High School and was a born again Christian and attended the Belington Church of the Nazarene until her health no longer allowed her to do so. She was previously employed for Elyria Telephone of Ohio for 17 years, 12 of those years as a telephone operator, and a supervisor for the remaining five years. She also worked in Tennessee for a physician and four years at Scott Memorial Hospital. She moved to California, and worked for 18 months for Gammell Construction Co. She then moved back to Tennessee and went back to work for Scott Memorial Hospital in the outpatient department for 11 years, then moved back to West Virginia following the closure of the hospital where she met and married Ralph Wright. Wanita loved to paint, draw and write. She wrote and published a book of short stories. She taught Sunday school for many years and helped with the Kidreach after school program at the Belington Nazarene Church.
She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg St. in Belington today from 7-9 p.m. and again on Sunday, Sept. 9, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Danny Linger officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Morris Cemetery near Kasson.
