Susan A. Morningstar

MORNINGSTAR

Susan Armentrout Morningstar, 86, of Massanetta Springs, Virginia, died peacefully 11/18/18, going to the Lord after several years of declining health.

Susan Jane Mullenex was born to Carl Grover and Tydia Warner Mullenex in Whitmer 12/8/31.

Our beautiful Susan loved school, graduating as class valedictorian at Harman High School and valedictorian at Glenville State College. She loved teaching, beginning at a one-room schoolhouse at Osceola, where a student shot a deer out the window the first day of deer season. Susan taught in West Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland, as her husband’s ministry progressed. She loved sewing; she kept us in fashionable clothes, and clean, nicely appointed homes. Susan loved the Lord, earning a M.Ed. at Gettysburg Theological Seminary in 1976.

Susan married The Rev. Stanley Keith Armentrout of Whitmer 10/4/52. Stan and their daughter Melissa were killed in a car accident near Woodsboro, Maryland 11/21/75. Susan and Stan were married 23 years. Susan married Ralph Morningstar of Westminster, Maryland 5/5/78, Ralph passed away 11/16/99 after a 21-year marriage. Susan then moved to Harrisonburg Virginia, joining Muhlenberg Lutheran Church.

Susan is survived by son Brad Armentrout of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and his four children, Clara, Paul, Jenna, and John Armentrout; by sister Ruby Lineweaver and brother James Mullenex of Harrisonburg, Virginia, sister Dotty Dorsey of Prince Frederick, Maryland, and Ralph’s children, Patsy Morningstar, Joyce Morningstar and Kathi Channell-Beard of Westminster, Maryland.

Our family will forever be grateful for the loving care given our beloved Susan in her final year by our special friend Kathy Hudson of Brandywine. We also appreciate the service provided by First Choice Hospice, and by Kyger Funeral Home, Harrisonburg, Virginia. Condolences may be shared at www.kygers.com.
