Minnie Johnson

Minnie Ellen Amos Johnson, 90, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at home surrounded by family and under the care of West Virginia Caring.

Minnie was born Friday, April 20, 2018, in Valley Bend, a daughter of the late Joseph Calvin Amos and Hannah Etta Wilson Amos. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Minnie married Lewis Oscar Johnson, who preceded her in death.

Left to cherish Minnie’s memory are four children, Robert Johnson of Elkins, Barbara Fisher of Pennsylvania, Gary Johnson of Mississippi and Pam Rettzo and husband Chip of Ellamore, grandchildren, Lisa Chrissy, Jonathan, Gina, Becky Jo, Dalton Jr., Joyce, Elizabeth, Nathan, Natalie, Gary Jr., Jennifer, Jessica, Joseph, Jaime, and Ronnie, great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Kinley, Indigo, Noah III, Shiloh, Ethan, Kyle, Anthony, Hailey, Megan, Jacob, Sophie, and Zachary, great great-grandchildren, Laiken and Railen, and daughter-in-law, Patty Johnson.

Preceding Minnie in death besides her parents and husband were two children, Sharon Johnson and Dalton Johnson, and seven siblings, Agnes Magner, Nancy Hammond, Beryl Miller, Daisy George, Harley, Ray and James Amos.

Minnie attended the schools of Randolph County and had been employed as a housekeeper at Elkins Motor Lodge and as a seamstress for Ida Shock. Minnie enjoyed cooking, gardening and making clothes for people. Her favorite joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Minnie was a Jehovah’s Witness by faith.

Minnie’s request for cremation was honored.
