Bernice E. Hipp

Bernice Eloise (Taylor) Hipp, 84, passed away Jan. 5, 2019, at Davis Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born Jan. 1, 1935, in Coketon, a daughter of the late Austin Roosevelt Taylor and Ruth Mae Nelson Taylor.

She was married to Charles Elwood Hipp, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2007. They were married for 53 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Ann Hipp Smith, Nashville, Tennessee; a son, Marcus W. (Dana) Hipp, Morgantown; a grandson, Kevin W. Hipp, whom she raised as a son; a great-granddaughter, Briliee E. Hipp, Elkins; 13 grandchildren, Kathryn Hipp, Kimberly D. McVicker, Brandy N. Nakamura, Amanda Ronco, John A. Hipp Jr., Charles E. Hipp III, Tracy Hipp, Shannon Jancius, Sarah Roberts, Libby Dobrinski, Brandon Hipp, and Autumn Cassidy Hipp; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, Robert (Patricia) Taylor, Burlington, Elmer (Libby) Taylor, Pennsylvania and Leslie (Millie) Taylor, Mt. Storm; two sisters, Virginia “Ginny” (Jerry) Marsh, Parsons, and Anna Bankhead, Elkins; and one daughter-in-law, Tina Simmons Hipp, Elkins.

Bernice was preceded in death by three children, Charles E. Hipp, Jr., John A. Hipp, Sr., and Austin G. Hipp,; three sisters, Ruby Vanmeter, Maxine Kuhn and Loretta Baker; and two brothers, Donald Taylor and William Taylor.

Bernice worked at the Mt. Storm School as a cook during her college education and then became a teacher after completing her degree. Later in life she enjoyed being a homemaker and caretaker for her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and quilting. She loved spending time with her family.

Friends will be received at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted immediately after the visitation at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dave Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Storm Cemetery.
