Mr. Michael I. Bell, Sr., 77, a resident of Elkins, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 17, 2019, in the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.

He was born Dec. 4, 1941, in Elkins, a son of the late Martin Boston Bell and the late Nela Geneva Mallow Bell.

He was married to Lola Mae Smith, who preceded him in death on March 14, 2016.

Surviving are three sons, Michael Bell, Jr., and wife, Kathy, Elkins, Harry Lambert and James Lambert, both of Elkins; four daughters. Veronica Spencer and husband, Bobby, Martinsburg, Jacqueline Ramsey and husband, Jimmie, Elkins, Barbara McSpadden and husband, Paul, of Junior, and Pamela Currence and husband, Mike, of Elkins; five sisters, Mamion Day, Louise Higgins, Joy Day, Wanda Wegman and Nila Phillips; one brother, Don Bell; companion and best friend, Margaret Winans; 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren also survive.

Also preceding him in death were brothers, Delano, Jack, Ivan and infant brother John; sisters, Neva and Lettie; and a grandson, Christopher McSpadden.

Mr. Bell attended the schools of Randolph County. He served with the Army National Guard and was employed as a coal miner for many years prior to his retirement. Mr. Bell enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, camping with his family and especially loved his grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Terry Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in the Bell Cemetery at Kelly Mountain.

Full military honors will be accorded at the gravesite by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard program, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorial contributions may be made to FMC Elkins Dialysis Center, 100 Main Street, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mr. Bell.
