Esther P. Ratliff

RATLIFF

Esther Pearl Ratliff (Smith) went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2019.

She was born on March 9, 1935, in Job, to Jasper Smith and Pearl Smith (Long).

Esther, a resident of Job, was married to her husband, Charles “Sonny” Ratliff, for 53 years until his passing in 2005.

She is survived by four children, Charles M. Ratliff Sr., Rhonda Blake, Rachael Rounds and Amy Judy. In addition to her children, she is survived by 10 grandchildren, Charles M. Ratliff Jr., Christina Weigel, David DeBord, Heather Leidy, Sheri Adkins, Jennifer Ratliff, Joshua Vance, Ronald Casstevens, Evan Judy, and Olivia Judy, 13 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

Esther was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, sister Catherine White, brother Paul Smith, grandson Mark Wheeler, and great-great granddaughter Emmalynn Weigel.

Esther was a loved and respected leader in her community, fondly remembered for her commitment to the Job United Methodist Church, where she played the piano, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and directed the annual Children’s Christmas Program. Esther enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, scrap booking, and caring for her grandchildren and the elderly in her community.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her family.

Friends will be received at Whitmer United Methodist Church Sunday, March 24, from noon – 2 p.m., with funeral services being held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Roy Good officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Job.
