Genevieve Sylvia

Genevieve Alice Sylvia, 86, a resident of Montrose, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center.

She was born May 16, 1932, at Montrose, a daughter of the late Jeffie Rowan and the late Lola Belle Poling Rowan.

On March 7, 1989, in Naples, New York, she was married to George P. Sylvia, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas Lambert and wife Darlene of Elkins and Randall Lambert and wife Cynthia of Montrose. Also surviving is one brother, Leon Rowan of Tennessee, one sister, Wanda Thompson of Cravensdale, two grandsons, Kevin and Aaron Lambert and one special niece, Gayle Sanders and husband Jimmy of Anchorage, Alaska.

Several brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Sylvia was employed at the Adult Training Center in Elkins prior to her retirement. She was a mother, housekeeper and loved her pets.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. April 11 at the Leading Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery at Montrose. The Rev. David Rice officiated and interment followed.
