Phyllis J. Scott

Phyllis Jean Blankenship Scott, 79, a resident of Norton, departed this life Friday evening, June 21, 2019, at the Davis Medical Center at Elkins.

She was born Sunday, July 2, 1939, at Coalton, a daughter of the late Charles Herbert and Alice Reilly Blankenship.

She was married to Marvin Eugene Scott, who preceded her in death Oct. 28, 1997.

Surviving are two brothers, John Reilly Blankenship of Norton and Willard Allen “Bill” Blankenship of Darlington, Maryland; one sister, Bernice Olive Yeager of Darlington, Maryland; four grandchildren, Mark Phillip Bennett Jr., and wife Tara’ of Point Pleasant, David Lee Bennett, Candie Benedict and husband Cooper, and Christina Frias, all of Lewisburg; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are one son, Mark Phillip Bennett Sr.; and three sisters, Lillian Charlene Scott, her twin Pauline Jeanette Crozier, and Karen Ann Neaves.

Phyllis attended the schools of Coalton, had worked at Nella’s Nursing Home, and was a Catholic by faith. She enjoyed music, reading, playing guitar and piano, writing music, and listening to WDNE radio every morning to hear the funeral notices, and trading post. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday, June 27, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Mr. Raymond G. Godwin will officiate and interment will follow at the Saint Vincent Cemetery at Kingsville.
