Mr. Jackie Lee Booth, 85, a resident of Belington, departed this life Thursday afternoon July 18, 2019, at his residence, following a period of declining health.

He was born Aug. 31, 1933, at Barbour County, a son of the late Delsworth and Gladys Smith Boyles Booth and his step-father, whom he called dad, Harley Boyles. He was twice married, first on Dec. 22, 1951, to the former Glenola Jean Hershman, who preceded him in death on June 12, 1999, and secondly on May 18, 2002, to the former Treva Tenney, who preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 2018.

He is survived by two daughters, Vicki Lynn Seech and husband, Danny, Suetta Lea Durst and husband, Kevin, all of Belington; one son, Joseph Michael Booth and wife, Penny, of Belington; half-sister, Donna Jo Marsh and husband, Richard, of Belington; five grandchildren, Cheryl Hawkins and husband, John, of Tacy, Brandy Phillips and companion, Doug Rucker, of Longs, South Carolina, JP Phillips and companion, Patty Wolfe, of Belington, Jaime Short and husband, Brian, of Philippi, and Michael Lee Booth and wife Carrie of Dublin, Virginia; nine great-grandchildren, JW Hawkins, Caleb Hawkins, Jedidiah Hawkins, Caden Hawkins, Courtney Suggs and husband, Colby, Trae Corley and companion, Elizabeth Shaffer, Zackary Short, Braiden Short and Corbin Booth, three great-great-grandchildren; Kinleigh Suggs, Easton Suggs and Grayson Corley.

In addition to his parents, step-father, and wives he was preceded in death by one step-sister, Freddie Castello.

Jackie attended the Corley School and the Belington High School and attended the Corley United Methodist Church. He was formerly employed by Barbour Coal and Grafton Coal, and had worked out of the Laborers Union Local No. 983, and had worked in road construction. He was a proud veteran serving in the United States Army, a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 125 AF&AM, was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and was a Shriners belonging to the Nemesis Temple. He belonged to American Legion Post No. 96 of Belington, a lifelong member of the Laurel Mountain Post No, 410 in Belington and was a member of the UMWA Union District No. 31.

He was a wonderful man and loved his country and family and looked forward to each and every visit from his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family of Mr. Booth would like to extend their love and appreciation to his care giver, Sherry Nestor.

Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Saturday July 20, 2019, from 4-8 p.m. and again on Sunday July 21, 2019, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will then follow in the Booth Family Cemetery near Belington where the Belington Masonic Lodge No. 125 AF&AM will conduct ritualistic graveside services and full military rites will be accorded by the Belington American Legion Post No. 96 along with the United States Army.
