Aubrey Wright

WRIGHT

Aubrey Warren Wright, 84, of Moatsville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 4, 2019, at Valentine’s Personal Care Home where he was well cared for. Family was by his side.

He was born to parents Archie and Fannie (Carder) Wright on May 25, 1935, in Upshur County.

Aubrey is survived by his wife of 24 years, Wilda; daughters, Gwenda (Roger) Oates, Vicki (Dwight) Fegley and Teresa (Ed) Pumphrey; son, Andrew Wright; stepson, David (Pat) Summerfield; stepdaughter, Debbie (Ronnie) Schoonover; brothers, Robert, Donnie and David Wright; sisters, Bonnie Holmes, Icie Harrison and Oreta Everson; 14 grandchildren/stepgrandchildren; 11 great grandchildren/stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Sue; son, Samuel Ray Wright; sisters, Pauline Williams, Geraldine Sothen Oldaker, Montana Ball and Josephine Fortney; and brother, Okie Wright.

Aubrey was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to everyone. He never met a stranger and was terrible at remembering names.

Aubrey was the owner of Aubrey Wright Construction. He built and remodelled many, many homes and other facilities in Barbour, Upshur and surrounding counties. He loved to laugh and was known for his guitar playing and singing. One of his favorites was “I’m a winner either way, If I go or if I stay, Cause I’ll still have Jesus with me, Each passing day.” He was a member of several “bands” over the years and happiest when he was strumming his guitar. He was a longtime member and officer of the local Gideon Camp.

Aubrey is part of the WVU human gift registry. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Anyone who would like to make donations in his honor, please send them to Gideons International via your local church or Gideons.org.
