Morels spotted, several activities slated
Hello from Barbour County! I sure have been enjoying spring so far. Ramps are up, morel mushrooms have been spotted, mud is drying up, birds are singing and the list could go on. The countdown has begun for the last day of school by students and teachers alike.
Belington EMS would like to thank everyone who came out for the 5K race last Saturday. There were around 55 walkers/runners for the event. They also had much appreciated support from the fire and police departments in helping with traffic control. A big thank you to Missy Kaiser for making sure the times were accurate as the runners came across the finish line. Thanks also to Shelley Starkey with helping to plan the race.
The weather was beautiful and the walk along the river was very nice. The river looked very calming and peaceful. May I encourage you to please not throw trash out along the roads. Someone, somewhere has to pick it up. It’s also very disrespectful. Please, let’s do our part to keep our county clean.
Lots of people came out last weekend for a cleanup day in Belington. Flowers were planted, a fence was installed and it looks like a lot was accomplished in the spring clean up for the town.
