Summer packed with activities in Barbour

Hello from Barbour County! I hope everyone is able to enjoy their summer.

Just a reminder that Cornerstone Church in Industrial Park will be having kid’s camp from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday. The theme will be Noah’s Ark and is for children in K-8 grades. Come out for a time of fun with classes, food, crafts and games. For more information, contact Pastor Shelton at 304-823-1454.

The Belington Volunteer Fire Department will be having its Early Bird Sale for Fall Bash Tickets Saturday at the fire house from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tickets will be three for $100 or $40 each. Everyone who purchases a ticket that day will be entered into a drawing. The winner will have their choice of $500 or 15 extra tickets. Come on out and support a great cause.

There will be a fireworks display at the Barbour County Fairgrounds on July 4 to celebrate Independence Day. Fireworks are scheduled to start at 10 p.m., but the gates open at 7 p.m. There is no charge for admission, but donations will be accepted.

The Barbour County Relay for Life is coming up soon and the Little Mr. and Miss Relay Contest has begun. To enter a child, pick up an entry form at the City Office or call 304-457-2833, 304-739-4746 or 304-841-5718.

The Relay for Life is Aug. 1 at the Barbour County Fairgrounds with the survivor lap starting at 7 p.m. Cancer survivors are invited. To participate, register by going to www.relayforlife.org/barbourwv.

The Philippi Public Library’s summer reading program will run from July 7 to July 25. For more information, call the library at 304-457-3495.

The Philippi Public Library will be hosting Knit Whits again at 6:30 p.m. July 8. This is a good time to get together and sew, crochet, knit or just visit.

If you have missed out on getting your children signed up for American Youth Football or cheerleading, don’t worry – you will have another chance. The sign-up will be from 8 a.m. to noon July 12 at the Barbour County State Police Barracks. There are different age groups for children ages 5

to 12.
