Barbour County Fair set to begin

Fall is in the air in Barbour County! I love this time of year. The leaves are starting to change and the air is getting cooler. It’s also time for football and festivals.

The Barbour County Fair kicks off this weekend, from the crowning of the queen to the demolition derby, bull riding, tractor pulls, ATV races and everything in between. The grand feature parade will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday. I hope to see you there!

Today marks the third annual Dale Wilson Memorial Benefit Car Show. This will be held at New Beginnings Church on Rt 92. Registration is $10 per vehicle and begins at noon. Looks like it will be a fun time with corn hole, music, food and much more.

Philippi Public Library will be having their preschool story hour on Wednesdays from 10:30-1:30 a.m. Bring your preschooler out for a time of fun, crafts, songs and stories.

In Belington, story hour at the library is every Thursday at 4 p.m. Kids of all ages are welcome to come by for a story, activity and a snack.

Save the Golden Rule group meets every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at the red building near the red light in Belington. Come out and support this effort to save a great historical building.

For more information, contact Terri Kittle at (304) 823-1531.

Looking ahead, Diecast Dragsters will be hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Sept. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Building in Junior.

Also on Sept. 27, the annual Run For It race in Davis will take place. I know that both libraries in Barbour County will have teams, and there will be many other teams that you will have the opportunity to join.

If you have any Barbour County news that you would like to see in The Inter-Mountain, give me a call at (304) 823-2539 or send an email to sharris@theintermountain.com. I love hearing from you all!

Until next time: Be kind. Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.
