Mt. Liberty Fall Festival scheduled to start at 10 a.m. today

Hello from Barbour County, where people still care about their community, and it’s a good place to call home.

Thanks to donations from area businesses and residents, the proposed drug dog is getting closer to being added to the Belington police department. Donations still are being accepted, so if you would like to be a part of this exciting time, contact City Hall at 304-823-1611.

The Mt. Liberty community will be having its annual Fall Festival today, starting at 10 a.m. This always promises to be a fun-filled day of music, crafts, great food and homemade apple butter. Look for the signs on U.S. 250 near Polings Store.

Also on tap for today will be a craft and vendor show to benefit Doug and Gloria (Jeannie) Tusing. The Tusings are from the Teter Lake Community and lost everything in a recent fire. This will help them to get back into a home and replentish items lost in the fire. This benefit will take place at the Leading Creek Fire Department, beginning at 9 a.m.

There will be a free Zumba class on the football field at BC Bank Park on Thursday and again on Oct. 27 from 6-7 p.m., weather permitting. This is hosted by Theresa Kittle, and all are welcome to join. Bring water and a towel.

Mission 3:16 will be hosting a giveaway on Oct. 22 at the Barbour County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be free food, clothes, games, school supplies and household supplies. “Where there is a need, there is hope.”

There will be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament at the Belington Civic Center on Oct. 30 from 3-7 p.m. The entry fee is $25 per team in the following age brackets: 12-15 years, 16-18 years, and 19-plus. Every winner from each age bracket will receive 40 percent of their bracket’s earnings. The rest of the money collected will go to benefit UPMC Children’s Hospital.
