Barbour welcomes fall with events
Hello from Barbour County, where we can officially welcome fall this weekend.
A little bit about my family. My mom has welcomed two foreign exchange students into her home this school year. One of them is from Bolivia, and the other is from Hungary. It is quite a fun experience, and we have been enjoying many “new” activities with them. There are five foreign exchange students at Philip Barbour this year. If you ever have a chance to spend some time with them, make them feel welcome.
The ladies at Laurel View Apartments would like for me to mention that they enjoyed their final cookout of the summer a couple weeks ago. There were about 22 people in attendance and a door prize was given. Everyone seemed to have a good time of fellowship.
Several weeks ago, the historic Carrolton Covered Bridge was burned by arson. Authorities are still looking for those responsible, but I did see that the bridge is once again opened to traffic.
Just a reminder that there will be a benefit for Kevin Shreve today at the Junior Town Hall beginning at 2:30 p.m. Kevin was injured in an automobile accident, and would appreciate any help received. There will be a 50/50 drawing, auction, raffles and food.
This Sunday, there will be a chicken BBQ beside City Hall in Belington from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. This is to support the Belington Volunteer Fire Department. Come on out and enjoy some good food.
This weekend wraps up the Fall Festival in Belington. There will be crafts and vendors set up at the fire department and there will be food vendors and activities.
