Youth baseball signups on the agenda in Barbour County

Hello from Barbour County!

It may still be winter, but folks are starting to think about baseball.

Barbour County Youth Baseball will be having sign-ups today from 9:30 a.m.–1 p.m. and all day on Sunday. The cost will be $50 for the first child, and $45 for each sibling.

Sign-ups can also be done at The Edge Sport Facility in the Industrial Park in Belington during normal business hours.

The phone number is (304) 627-8400.

As we begin to think about tax time, remember that tax forms can be picked up at your local public library.

There will be a Food Service Worker Permit Class on Feb. 1 at the Market Place in Philippi.

Registration begins at 5:15 p.m., with the class starting at 6 p.m.

The cost for a state wide card is $20, and a Barbour County card is $10. Cards are valid for two years.

For more information, call Sanitarian Bill Nestor, at the Barbour County Health Dept. at (304) 457-1670.

In addition to the monthly classes, the Barbour County Health Department has started a weekly Food Service Worker test that will be given every Tuesday from 9 a.m.–10 a.m. at the health department.

Prices and cards are the same, but if you can’t make it to the classes, this gives you another option.

Barbour County Schools will be having pre-school and kindergarten registration on Feb. 2 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Philip Barbour High School Auxiliary Gym.

The make-up snow day will be Feb. 9.

Looking ahead, the Barbour County Winter Fair will be held March 2 and 3 from 8 a.m.–6 p.m. at the Belington Volunteer Fire Department.

If you would like to set up a craft/vendor table, the cost is only $10.

For more information, call (304) 669-6833.
