Philip Barbour High School Hall of Fame seeking nominations

Hello from Barbour County!

The Philip Barbour Hall of Fame is looking for nominations for the class of 2018. They be accepted until Feb. 16. Nomination forms and information are available at the front desk at PBHS or can be printed from an on-line tab at the top of the Philip Barbour web page at http://pbhs.barb.k12.wv.us/. They invite nominations from alumni and other citizens who wish to support deserving members of the Colt family.The second class of honorees will be recognized in late August.

The Belington Police Department is accepting donations for their annual fishing derby which will be coming up in a couple months. If you would like to participate in helping them to reach their goal, donations can be sent to the police department at 505 Crim Ave., Belington WV 26250.

The Good Samaritan Society is having a Valentine’s Day fundraiser. They will be delivering carnations to area businesses on Feb. 14. Orders will be taken until Feb. 13. The price per carnation is $1.50, which includes a personalized note. For information on placing an order, call (304) 823-2555, and ask for Chrystal, Holly or Chelsie.

The Barbour County cancer support group will have their monthly meeting on Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Medallion Restaurant in Philippi. This is open to all cancer survivors, caregivers and family members. For information, call Deanna at (304) 457-2684.

Philip Barbour will be holding a talent show at 5 p.m. Feb. 25. There is a $3 admission fee at the door, and refreshments will be provided. For information, call Evelyn at 304-614-1121.

The Barbour County Health Department has started a weekly Food Service Worker test that will be given every Tuesday from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. at the health department. The cost for a statewide card is $20, and a Barbour County card is $10. Cards are valid for two years. For information, call Sanitarian Bill Nestor at (304) 457-1670.

The Barbour County Winter Fair will be March 2-3 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the Belington Volunteer Fire Department. If you would like to set up a craft/vendor table, the cost is $10. For information, call (304) 669-6833.

Philippi Main Street will be having their annual Art Stroll on April 20. They are looking for any area artists or musicians to participate. For more information, call City Hall at (304) 457-3700, ext 226.
