Vacation Bible Schools in session across Barbour County

Hello from Barbour County! June arrived, and with it came cooler weather. It doesn’t seem like June, but that’s OK. There’s nothing we can do about the weather, and I like it when it’s not so hot.

The hummingbirds are back! You may remember that I wrote recently that I haven’t been seeing hummingbirds this year. The past week, they’ve been back in full swing, so I don’t know if they got a late start this year, but it’s good to see them again.

Many in the county are saying “see you later” to Sparkman Yeager this week. He lived a full life to almost 102 years of age. Years ago, he ran the “5 and dime” store in town, and many will remember him fondly. Condolences go out to his family and many friends. I can’t imagine living that long, and it’s something that not many people are able to do. Just imagine all of the many things he has seen over the years and the progress made in his lifetime. When I hear of someone living to be over 100, I always wonder if he honored his parents. Ephesians 6:2&3 “Honor thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.”

School is out for the summer, but Vacation Bible School is open for attendance all across the county.
