Morrisey steps into contest chaos
After organizers of a 5-kilometer run for women abruptly canceled the event planned for Saturday in Charleston, they said there would be no refunds of entry fees. Apparently, they planned to keep fees paid by about 2,500 women.
They neglected to take state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey’s determination to protect consumers into account.
Morrisey’s consumer protection division sprang into action and, lo and behold, agreement was made that at least most of the entry fees will be refunded.
Good for Morrisey for ensuring the women had effective recourse.
