Boos & Applause
Applause to area elected officials for participating in the first Legislative Luncheon of 2019. Their time is valuable and yet they realize they have made a commitment to listen to our needs and represent us as best they can. During the 2019 Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce Legislative Update event Thursday, guests heard from 43rd District House of Delegates members Bill Hartman and Cody Thompson, as well as 11th Senatorial District representatives Greg Boso and Bill Hamilton.
Applause to the 50 years of service a local business has provided in the area. The Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center, located along the Beverly Five-lane in Elkins, celebrated five decades of providing “complete compassionate care” to its residents in 2018.
Applause to the animals from Therapy Dogs International that are making a positive effect on individuals in the community The Elkins area features six therapy dogs from TDI who visit nursing homes, schools, hospitals, libraries and other establishments in the local area to provide comfort and support to those in need.
Applause to Elkins City Council for applying for a grant to help with the dilapidated houses situation. Local residents have held Town Hall meetings, attended council meetings and called on city officials over the last two years to make an effort on the distressed properties issue. Perhaps we will continue to see some positive action in 2019.
