Infrastructure

Last month, Democrat congressional leaders left a meeting with President Donald Trump proclaiming they had a deal to pursue a $2 trillion infrastructure improvement program. Following the meeting, however, there was … nothing. Much the same thing happened last year.

Some lawmakers in both parties have legitimate concerns about spending that much. One is where to find the money.

But as U.S. Rep. David McKinley, R-West Virginia, emphasized this week, the nation is badly in need of a major infrastructure upgrade. Part of it should be workforce training, McKinley added.

His comments came during a press conference with U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross, D-New Jersey. The two men are co-chairs of the Congressional Building Trades Caucus.

No one has to explain the need for infrastructure spending to West Virginians. Here’s hoping McKinley and Norcross can make fellow lawmakers understand.
