Linwood Project receiving support
As a resident of the northern part of Pocahontas County I would like to say a huge thank you to the Tucker Community Foundation for the support of our Linwood Alive Project.
This grant has given us an opportunity to move forward with our goal of the construction project of a pavilion which will be open to all of our residents. We are bringing together numerous nonprofit organizations within our community together for this collaboration.
The pavilion is a bridge to partnering with the Pocahontas Farmers Market for a Farm to Daycare program.
We are working with Keys for Healthy Kids to follow guidelines for healthy and nutritious choices for the children.
The Linwood community worked very hard in 2010 to bring a library to our area.
We also recently successfully opened a nonprofit daycare to provide educational oriented childcare to our working families.
Our future goals include a playground and recreational trails.
Enhancing the quality of local life is of utmost importance. We have obtained a commitment from Snowshoe Mountain for a long term agreement for use of the Welcome Center property. Our area churches as well as Pocahontas Trails Club, Inc. (local chapter of the International Mountain Bike Association) are hard at work trying to bring these improvements to fruition.
Please accept our thanks and appreciation for your support of our community.
