Shop owner showed compassion, support

I want to compliment one of our local business owners, Tammy Dolly of Tammy’s Floral in Elkins.

She went above and beyond to assist me with an idea to show love and support last week with the loss of Nefeterius McPherson. If you are unfamiliar with this story, Nefeterius was a lovely young lady that received a liver from Elkins native Taitlyn Hughes in 2011. Unfortunately, last week we also had to say goodbye to Nefeterius.

The story of Taitlyn and Nefeterius has touched the lives of many local residents, but hasn’t stopped there. Nefeterius became a big proponent of the Donate Life organization. Each time that she spoke of the importance of organ donation, she praised Taitlyn Hughes for her second chance at life. This past January, Nefeterius was honored to be on the Donate Life float during the Rose Parade.

Upon hearing of her passing, I felt compelled to do something. I wasn’t sure what I could do since Nefeterius lived in Texas. However, I knew that others that had been inspired by this story would feel the same way that I did.

Tammy’s Floral was willing to accept donations from people wanting to donate to this cause. Those donations were then used to send flowers to the funeral of Nefeterius.

Tammy Dolly took the time to accept the donations, locate a florist in Texas that was willing to help with this and followed up to make sure the flowers arrived and that we received pictures to share with the many people that donated.

Donations were accepted from local residents and people from across the nation including California, Florida, Indiana and Virginia.

Such service builds great working relationships and certainly deserves recognition for excellent customer service. I appreciate all of her support in helping to organize this in honor of Nefeterius McPherson.
