Heart health event deemed a success

Midland School students had a successful fundraiser Saturday, March 22, at the school gymnasium. The goal this year was $2,000 and 60 students surpassed that goal with a record amount of $6,227.11.

This money goes to the American Heart Association to help fight heart disease, the number one killer in America. The top fundraiser was Cole Lambert, who raised $800 by himself.

I want to personally thank all of the students and their parents for getting involved in this event because the students raise all the money. They couldn’t do this without their parents support. The students jumped rope to music supplied by Andrew Davis, who has volunteered his help at our past events.

During the event, we hand out thank-you coupons from Elkins businesses, and I want to thank Elkins Cinema 8, Dairy Queen, Long John Silvers, Pizza Hut, Domino’s, Papa Johns, Wendy’s, Burger King, Taco Bell, Subway, McDonald’s, KFC, Hardee’s, Main Line Books, Nestor’s Elkins Recreation Center and Shawn’s Games/DVDs at Crystal Springs.

Thanks, Jerry Gibson for filming our Jump Rope for Heart and a big thanks to The Inter-Mountain and WDNE radio for the advertising. Thank you, Todd Price, and all the volunteers for all your help and support on this life-saving event.
