Elkins made birthday more memorable
This past weekend we celebrated the 90th birthday of our mother, Ruth Hepler. It just seems like the whole community was involved in making it a wonderful occasion. Over 60 family and close friends gathered from all over the United States to surprise Mom, and it was one of the sweetest celebrations ever!
We would like to thank the American Mountain Theater for letting us unveil the surprise during their Friday night performance. Mom was serenaded by Jeremiah Franks as we gathered around her to say “Happy Birthday.” On Saturday, Logan Smith at Scott Hill provided a perfect meal and ambiance for us to visit with family members we rarely have the chance to see.
The Hampton Inn and the Holiday Inn Express were very accommodating in letting us get maps and information to family members staying with them for the weekend. We capped off the celebration with brunch at Graceland Sunday.
There was not one aspect of the weekend that we would have changed or that went wrong. Having moved away from Elkins over 30 years ago, I sometimes forget how wonderful it is to be part of a small town that still pleasantly works with you to do something special. Thank you, Elkins, for helping to make this weekend a special one for our mom.
