Cancer support run deemed major success

The annual Randolph County Cancer Support Group 3-Mile Walk/7K Run was held recently at Riverbend Park in Elkins.

The committee would like to sincerely thank the following organizations and individuals for their generosity in helping to raise $5,900 to help cancer patients in Randolph County: All Seasons Realty; Beverly United Methodist Women Circle #2; Bialek Insurance Agency; Busch, Zurbuch and Thompson Attorneys at Law; Citizens Bank of West Virginia; Coffman Chapel Church; Davis Electrical Service; Davis Memorial Hospital; Davis Trust Company; Elkins Physical Therapy & Sports Injury Clinic; Innovative Investments; Mike Ross Inc; Mountain Valley Bank; Papa John’s Pizza; Reliable Roofing; Roy’s RV Supercenter LLC; The Inter-Mountain; Tomblyn Funeral Home; Tygart Valley IOOF; Williams & Associates; Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church; Elkins Parks & Recreation; Jeff Broughton at Broughton Sports, Tony Daft at TD’s Classic Tees and all the walkers and runners who participated in the event.

Thank you to Shellie Burda and Katy Ross for coordinating the timekeeping and awards ceremony; and to Emma Quint for her t-shirt design, Mayor Van Broughton for starting the runners, and the Elkins City Police Department for providing the escort vehicle. A special thank you to Caitlyn Rennix, who raised $ 1,783 in memory of her school bus driver, John Smith, and to the members of the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church for their contribution of more than $1,000 in honor of William Calhoun, who is retiring as the church s minister this year.
