Jump Rope for Heart a fundraising success

On Saturday, March 4, Midland Elementary School had its 19th annual Jump Rope for Heart and 73 students were successful in raising $4,634.76. Cole Lambert was the top fundraiser with $1,150. He received a $50 gift certificate from Elkins Wal-Mart and a free movie pass from Elkins Cinema 8 for his hard work.

I want to thank Tina Wallace for letting us use the gym and supporting our event. A special thank-you to Todd Price, Beth Cooper and Hollie Pritt for all your help coordinating the event and counting the money.

The parents deserve a big hand for helping the children raise money and getting them to Jump Rope For Heart. Thank you, The Inter-Mountain, for putting our event in your datebook and thanks, W.E.L.K. radio, for advertising our event.

I gave out prizes to the students at Jump Rope for Heart and these prizes were donated by local businesses in the Elkins area. Thank you Wal-Mart, Cinema 8, Dairy Queen, Subway, K.F.C., Papa John’s Pizza, Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Darren’s Pizza, Taco Bell, Long John Silver’s, Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Applebee’s, Nestor’s Recreation Center and Shawn’s Video Games and Movie Rentals at Crystal Springs.

Finally, a big thank-you to Mountain Valley Bank for the cashier checks donated to Midland School this year and in years past.
