Fundraiser a success

I would like to thank my mother, Lisa Wamsley, for initiating the call to Harvey Taylor to host a fundraiser for our Key Club. Taylor is “King of the Cakewalk.”

My mom has always instilled in me hard work and determination. You can make a difference, she encouraged me to do just that. I also appreciate the assistance of my club advisors Betty Newsom and Karen Looney.

I would like to personally thank the following businesses and sponsors for making the Tygarts Valley High School Key Club’s cakewalk a successful event: C&J’s Restaurant, Jim Severino and Chatters Cafe, J-Rod’s Vending, Patrons, Golden Nail Salon, Buffalo Wild Wings, Davi Nail Salon, Beander’s, CJ Maggie’s, Duke’s Steakhouse, Steer Steakhouse, Designs by Kathy hair salon, Scotties’s Restaurant, Holistic Housewife, Wal-Mart, Cuptane Gas, The Inter-Mountain, Armstrong Hardwood Flooring, Tina Harman with Thirty-one, Smoke on the Water, Phillips and Son’s Pawn Shop, T-Mart, Texas Roadhouse, Outback Steakhouse, Garfield’s Restaurant, Broughton’s Sporting Goods, T.D.’s Classic Tees, Wendy’s, Elkins Sewing Center, Mama Mia’s, Domino’s, Papa John’s, Bob Evans, Applebee’s, Dairy Queen, Sheetz, KFC, Long John Silvers, Supercuts, Pizza Hut, Elkins Cinema 8, Elkins Recreation Center, Shop-N-Save, Sherwin Williams, Buckhannon Toyota, Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, Glotfelty Tires, Matt and Meghan Hall from High Mountain Timber, Rocky Akers at Crazy Harry’s, Lowes, Camden Creek Primitives-N-More, Blossom Village, Mary’s Greenhouse, Deerfield Village Restaurant, El Gran Sabor, S&T’s Bees, David Kesling from Anytime Fitness, Sweco Furniture, Double S Stables, Debbie Johnson with Tupperware, Khristina Croston with Tupperware, Melodee Price, Frank Bush, Delegates Bill Hartman and Phil Isner, Ty Nestor, Tammy Swecker, Joan Tacy, Lori and Voras Haynes, Amanda Smith, Rachel Anger, Donna Auvil, Janie Newlon, Lisa Wamsley from the Board of Education, Linda Wilmoth and Jane Wamsley and the member of the Elkins Kiwanis Club.

A special thank you to Phil Isner and David Kesling for their generous donations to the raffles. Thanks to the collaborative effort of the above individuals, businesses and those who came out to support the fundraiser. Enough money was raised to send club members to Chicago, Illinois, this summer, for the district convention. I now understand the proverb “it takes a village to raise a child.” Thank you for being part of our village.
