Holy Week Services received support

This letter is a little late, but it is never too late to say thank you.

The Elkins Church Women United want to thank the Elkins Area Ministerial Association members for leading the worship services each day during our community’s Holy Week Services and the Elkins community for its monetary support. We would also like to thank the musicians for sharing their talents and Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church for welcoming everyone each day.

We want the ladies from these 17 churches to know we greatly appreciate everything they did to support us. We received food for the lunches and kitchen assistance from these churches: First United Methodist, Mercy Chapel, Orlena United Methodist, Wayside United Methodist, Davis Memorial Presbyterian, Saint Brendan Catholic, Holy Trinity Lutheran, First Baptist, First Church of Christ, Otterbein United Methodist, Israel United Methodist, Elkins Church of God, Church of the Brethren, Woodford Memorial United Methodist, Grace Episcopal, Bowden Family Worship Center and Elkins Church of the Nazarene.

Luncheon donations totaled $1,424, and Elkins Church Women United voted at the May Friendship Day celebration to provide monetary support to these local nonprofit organizations: Mountain Hospice, Randolph County Cancer Support Group, Women’s Aid in Crisis, Randolph County Homeless Shelter, Meals on Wheels, Elkins Ministerial Association. Catholic Charities, Randolph County Senior Center, Youth Health Service, Back Pack Project at First United Methodist Church, Good Shepherd Helping Hand, Common Grounds of Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church, Rock Ministries and Tyrand Parish.

We could not have done this without everyone’s help, and we thank everyone for their support. It is my understanding the Elkins Area Ministerial Association and Elkins Church Women United have participated with this noon-time Holy Week Services and lunches for around 30 years and have found that people look forward to them each year. We are a faith-based community working together to show and share God’s love.
