NUTTER FORT — Class AA, No. 1 Philip Barbour defeated Robert C. Byrd in four games Thursday evening in Big 10 Conference volleyball action. The Colts won by scores of 25-15, 25-19, 19-25 and 25-14. Sarah McCauley had 46 assists to lead Philip Barbour. Marteney Jacobs followed with 18 points and 10 kills, Sarah Booth added 17 kills, four blocks and 29 digs, Jazzmine Boyd 16 kills and five blocks and Victoria Shomo four blocks. “We didn’t play very well tonight, especially in game three,” said Philip Barbour coach Heather Halfin. “We’ll take the win, though.” Emily Wymer had 16 kills and eight points to lead the Eagles (5-10-1). Erin Gilmore added 14 points, while Jalan Brown and Kim Glaspell each had five kills.Glaspell also had seven points and six blocks for the Lady Eagles. “I felt we played well in the third game after we got off to a slow start,” said RCB coach Lois Gilmore. Philip Barbour won the junior varsity contest in three games.
