HAMBLETON — Josh Poling finished with a double-double to lead Tucker County past Trinity 73-54 Wednesday to win the Class A, Region II championship. The Mountain Lions move on to the state tournament, which begins next week in Charleston. “It’s always a great feeling to go back to the state tournament,” said Tucker County coach Tom Gutshall. “From here on out we are going to be going up against some good teams.” Poling finished with 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Mountain Lions (16-1), who led 22-20 at halftime. Coltan Brusak and Logan Snyder had 18 points each for Tucker County. Snyder added six assists for the Mountain Lions. Ethan Slaubaugh chipped in with eight points for Tucker County. “We played a lot better in the second half,” Gutshall said. “We shot the ball a lot better and played great defense.” Cody Triplett finished with 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Trinity.
